Bridging Academia and Practice: Local Area Planning
As part of the firm's continued engagement with academia and professional knowledge exchange, the Lead Architect and Urban Planner. Ar. Atharvi Paras Netragaonkar, conducted an insightful session on Local Area Planning (LAP) for students of the Bachelor of Planning program at the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Delhi, and the Master of Urban Planning program at MIT Art, Design and Technology University (MIT ADT University), Pune.

The session focused on the Bandra–Mahim Local Area Planning case study, showcasing how strategic planning frameworks can address the evolving challenges of dense urban environments. Through an in-depth examination of the study area, students were introduced to the principles of integrated urban planning, land use optimization, mobility enhancement, heritage conservation, public realm improvement, and sustainable development.

A significant emphasis was placed on the importance of urban renewal and urban regeneration as catalysts for transforming existing city precincts into vibrant, resilient, and inclusive urban neighborhoods. The discussion highlighted how well-conceived planning interventions can balance growth with preservation, ensuring that urban development remains sensitive to local character, community needs, and environmental considerations.
